Campus Culture Directives

  • Every Student of St Claret College is known as a "Claretine".
  • Students shall abide by the rules and directives of the college and are expected to be worthy Claretines.
  • Students should maintain a sense of decorum and discipline at all times, both inside and outside the campus. Those who are guilty of serious misconduct or whose presence is detrimental to the order and discipline on the campus are liable to be expelled. Code of conduct on the campus includes safeguarding the College property and keeping the place clean and tidy.
  • Students shall always carry their ID Card with them and produce the same to any member of the staff or College officials when asked for.
  • Students are expected to be at their seats before the stroke of the bell for the class. The working day is divided into two sessions, the forenoon session of three hours and afternoon session of two hours. Attendance is marked at the commencement of the class. Late-comers, though may be permitted to attend the classes by the teacher concerned, will not be given attendance. Disciplinary actions will be initiated against frequent late-comers.
  • No student is allowed to leave the classroom without the permission of the teacher or until the class is dismissed.
  • Students shall greet the teachers on first meeting them for the day within the premises of the College, and whenever they meet them in public. When the lecturers enter the classroom, students must rise from their seats, greet him/her and remain standing till directed to sit.
  • There should be complete silence on corridors during class hours to maintain an academic atmosphere. Students must not loiter on the corridors during class hours.
  • Active participation in extra and co-curricular activities is compulsory.
  • Each class is assigned a mentor. The mentor will be in charge of monitoring the wards’ attendance, class participation, examination performance and participation in other activities.
  • Dress and general appearance of the students shall be in good taste and no way be offensive to the cultural ethos and norms.
  • Smoking, chewing gum, chewing pan and use of any addictive substance is strictly prohibited within the campus.
  • The campus must be kept clean and tidy at all times. The college is a temple of learning. Hence keep the beauty and the spiritual ambience of the campus. Littering and defacing the walls or desks, damaging college property are strictly forbidden.
  • Insubordination, habitual inattention, neglect of work, unbecoming language or conduct, obscenity in word or deed render a student liable to temporary or permanent dismissal.
  • Boys and girls are expected to conduct themselves with dignity and maturity. In their interpersonal relationships they must observe norms of decency, propriety and mutual respect.
  • Movements of vehicles in the college campus must be in a moderate speed. Vehicles are to be parked in the places allotted for it and appropriate censors will be initiated against violators. Students must obtain vehicle pass from the office and stick it on a prominent and visible point of the vehicle. While parking the vehicles in the campus students are to always keep the order and keep their vehicles locked.
