St. Claret College commemorated ‘World Mental Health day’ on October 10 by conducting awareness programmes about the social stigma attached to mental illnesses.
Various awareness activities like mental health workshop, street mime, and a rally in the neighbourhood were part of the commemoration. Dr. Rajashekar Hiremath and Dr. Anoop from Cadabams Rehabilitation Centre conducted the Mental health workshop. The street mime by the college students which was held in Jalahalli village, displayed various mental issues and also remedies to prevent mental illnesses. The awareness rally was flagged off by Rev. Dr Sabu George, the Principal and Rev. Fr Vineeth George, the Vice Principal.
Addressing the media, Rev. Dr. Sabu George the Principal said “Mental health and its importance is still not understood by many. This initiative by the college intends to build public understanding and awareness among the students of St. Claret College and the neighbourhood. The increasing cases of suicides and people suffering from mental disorders is an alarming phenomena that we need to promptly respond to.”
