A study tour was organised for II and III BCom TT students from April 4- 6, 2018.The destination covered were Dubare Elephant Camp for animal lovers Raja’s Seat – Mystical views and cottony clouds, Bylakuppe A cultural delight ,Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary Bird-lovers’ paradise St. Marys Island, Malpe Beach, Sri Krishna Temple Museum of Anatomy & Pathology.
The Environment Club organized on “Workshop on Terrace Gardening” on April 7, 2018.The Resource person for the session was Mr. Saravana Kumar, from My Dream Garden, Banaswadi Bangalore. All the Environment club students were the beneficiaries of this Workshop. Ms. Neeta Co-Ordinator welcomed the Resource person and the gathering.
Dr. Muniraju M G was awarded with Doctorate in Physical Education from Karpagam University, Coimbatore in 2017.
The Department of Commerce organised a two-day intra collegiate fest, Spark-2018 on March 21 -22, 2018. All the students of the department took active participation in the fest and made the fest a grand success. The events of the fest were, Lecture Contest, Product Launch, Best Manager, Mock Stock, Creative writing and Business Quiz and paper presentation on ‘Environment and Sustainability’. The overall champions of the fest were second year B.Com students.
To mark the World Health Day, St. Claret College organized an awareness walk in Jalahalli village, Bengaluru on April 7, 2018. Rev. Dr. Sabu George, Principal and Rev. Fr. Vineeth George, Vice Principal, flagged off the march to underscore the importance of health among students and the local community. Around 300 students participated in the awareness program displaying banners, placards and paintings that marked the signs of health and hygiene. As a part of this awareness walk, the students of the college performed a street play “Health is Wealth” at Jalahalli village square to educate the local community about health and hygiene in day-to-day life. The program was coordinated by Mr. Madesh N, NSS Officer; Dr. George Dimitrov, Ms. Sashikala, Mr. Triyoginath Pandey, Social Action Forum Coordinators and Mr. Thomas A Mattappallil, Theatre Club Coordinator.
A one-day Workshop for Post Graduate students on ‘Intellectual Property rights’ for Spurring Innovation and Creativity was Conducted at St.Claret College on April 6, 2018.The Chief Guest of the day was Prof.Dr.T.Ramakrishna , Ministry of Commerce and Industry Chair Professor on IPR and Professor of Law at National Law School of India, University (NLSIU).Prof.T.Ramakrishna in his Inagural Speech stressed on the Importance of IPR in various fields like Cinema, Literary, Musical, Artistic etc.The workshop saw sessions on Law of Copy Rights, Trade Mark, Design, and Geographical Indication being Conducted by Mr.Satyadeep kumar singh, Ph.D. Research Scholar, NLSIU and Mr.Vivek Anand Sagar, Research Associate, CIPRA/NIC Chair on IPR.
The Department of Management organised a free cancer screening (breast cancer & cervical cancer) camp for women on April 6, 2018 as part of their extension activity. The camp was conducted by Dr. Kameshwari Devi, a renowned social worker who has rendered selfless service to thousands of cancer patients and general public. She has received the Manavseva award for her selfless service to cancer patients. She has served at KIDWAI Cancer Institute and WHO as an active participant in research.
The Department of Computer Science organized an International Conference on ‘Trends & Innovations Implying Future Technology’ in association with Computer Society of India (CSI) on March 24, 2018. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. E Balagurusamy, Former Vice Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai and the Keynote Speaker was Dr. Muralidhara B. L., Professor and Chairman, Department of Computer Science and Applications, Bangalore University. During the inaugural function, Dr. E Balagurusamy highlighted the relevance of creativity and inquisitive mind in developing innovative ideas. In the keynote address on ‘Digital Divide’, Dr. Muralidhara mentioned about how academicians and students together can make a difference to bridge the gap between technology and society.70 teams from 25 various colleges presented their papers on themes like IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Cities, Data Mining, Wearable Technologies and many more.
Rev. Fr. Vineeth George, the Vice Principal of SCC received the Rashtriya Gaurav Puraskar 2018 from Lt Gen K.M. Seth PVSM, the former Governor of Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura, at the India International Centre, New Delhi on 26.03.2018. The past recepients of this award include Mother Teresa, Gen K.V. Krishna Rao, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Sunil Gavaskar, G.V.G. Krishnamuthy, Dhanraj Pillay, Justice P.N. Bhagwati, Dr Naresh Trehan, Abhinav Bindra and Air Chief Marshal N.C. Suri et al.
