St.Claret College (SCC), Bangalore, managed by the international network of Claretian Missionaries, from its humble beginning in 2005 has witnessed phenomenal growth over the years and today it has several undergraduate programs in Commerce, Management, Computer Science, and Humanities.
One-Day National Conference on "Issues and Challenges of Commerce and Management"A One-Day National Conference on ‘Issues and Challenges of Commerce and Management’ was held at St Claret College, Bangalore on October 20, 2015, organised by the departments of Commerce and Management.Dr. Latha Pillai, Director of Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development was the chief guest and the keynote speaker for the event. Dr. Pillai spoke about the changing trends in higher education and need to move beyond boundaries. Rev Fr. Varghese Karukulathel, manager, Rev Dr. Sabu George, Principal, Rev Fr. Joseph Matthew, administrator, and Rev Fr. Vineeth George, Vice Principal of St Claret College, Mr. Safeer Pasha M, IQAC coordinator were present during the session.Dr. Velmurugan. S, University of Pondicherry took a technical session about the implication of Goods and Service Tax on Center – State relations. Acumen organised at St Claret College

World Tourism Day: Celebrating a billion opportunities
On the occasion of World Tourism Day 2015, Tourism Club of the Department of Commerce, St Claret College organized various events exclusively for Travel and Tourism students from 14 to 22 September 2015. The theme was '1 Billion Tourists 1 Billion Opportunities'. This World Tourism Day focused on the impact of tourism on countries and communities around the world.
Some of the highlights of World Tourism Day Celebrations were flower arrangement competition, photography competition on the theme (garden tourism), chef tour( cooking without fire), tourism model displays on various Indian and International World Heritage Sites and poster display competition.[+] Read More
Two-Day Fest Confluence concludes on a lively note
The two-day Inter-Collegiate department fest of St. Claret College “Confluence” had a well-deserved finale on Wednesday, 16 September. The fest was inaugurated by Prof. Glady Jacob, Administrator and Associate professor of Christ University, Kengeri Campus on Tuesday, 15 September.
In the inaugural address, Prof. Glady Jacob stressed the importance of developing skills, and said, “festivals are celebrations of skills and organizing inter-collegiate fest helps students to sharpen their various skills.” Rev. Dr. Sabu George, Principal; Rev Fr Vineeth George, Vice Principal; Rev Fr Joseph Mathew, Administrator, and Rev Fr Benny C Mathew, Principal of Antony Claret School, were the other dignitaries present from St. Claret Group of Institutions.
Day one witnessed over twenty colleges participating in different events organized by the department of Commerce and Computer science. “Crescencia” organized by the department of Commerce had events like Mr. Banker, Ad Launch, Mock Stock, and Ethnic Fashion Show. Coding and Debugging, IT Manager, IT Quiz, and IT Rangoli were some of the popular events of “Technovation” conducted by the department of Computer Science. Christ University was the winner of Crescensia while Kristu Jayanti College and Vidya Mandir PU College emerged as champions for Technovation in UG and PU levels respectively.
The day two saw a lively crowd from thirty colleges competing in different events in the arts and management fest. “Resonance” by humanities had events like Spell Bee, Just A Minute, Psycho-drama, and Short Film. The management department’s “Anveshan” organised successful events like Ice Breaker, HRM, Business Quiz, and Fashion Show.
St. Claret PU College emerged as the winner of Resonance for Pre-University category. From the undergraduate category, Kristu Jayanti College bagged the “Resonance” trophy and CMR Institute of Management Studies lifted the “Anveshan” trophy. Guest Lecture on Shakespearean Tragedy
The Department of Humanities organised a guest lecture on Shakespearean Tragedy on September 10, 2015. It was conducted for all the three BA batches. Ms. Shireen Nedungadi, the former Principal of National Degree College, Bangalore was the Guest Speaker. Having provided an introduction to the origins of drama, she emphasized on how Shakespearean Tragedies are tragedies of the mind rather than a play of fate.
