The Claret Travel Desk is an innovative initiative of the Department of Tourism and Travel Management at St Claret College Autonomous, designed to provide students with a hands-on learning platform within the campus while offering valuable travel-related services to the college community.
Functioning as an in-house travel support and training unit, the Claret Travel Desk enables students to gain practical exposure to travel operations, itinerary planning, ticketing, customer service, and passport assistance under the supervision of faculty mentors and industry professionals. It serves as a live laboratory where theoretical knowledge from the classroom is applied in real-world scenarios, thus bridging the gap between academics and industry practice.
The Travel Desk assists in organizing study tours, industrial visits, educational excursions, and heritage trips for various departments of the college. It also provides guidance related to tour planning, FOREX handling, visa procedures, and travel documentation, helping students and faculty experience the complete cycle of travel management operations.
Through this initiative, students develop essential skills in communication, negotiation, operations management, and client handling preparing them for successful careers in the tourism, travel, and hospitality sectors. The Claret Travel Desk stands as a testament to the department’s commitment to experiential learning, professional development, and service excellence.
