Tourism Club – Department of Tourism and Travel Management

The Tourism Club of the Department of Commerce – Tourism and Travel Management at St Claret College serves as a vibrant student-led forum that brings together students and faculty passionate about the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors. The club acts as a charter community that fosters awareness, creativity, and professional excellence, while promoting a culture of responsible and sustainable tourism among students and the larger community.

Vision – To enable students to enhance the skills and competencies essential for the sustainable development of the tourism industry, while keeping pace with global academic and professional standards.

Mission – To facilitate opportunities for students to portray their talents, leadership, and organizational skills through diverse activities—enhancing accountability, productivity, teamwork, and customer service excellence.

Objectives
  • To create awareness about tourism, culture, and heritage among students.
  • To help students discover and develop their entrepreneurial potential in tourism and hospitality.
  • To provide a platform for idea-sharing and discussions on contemporary trends, innovations, and policies in the tourism sector.
  • To promote experiential learning through real-world exposure, industry interactions, and collaborative projects.

Acrivities –The Tourism Club conducts a wide range of academic, cultural, and professional activities throughout the year to enhance student learning and engagement, including:

  • Heritage Walks and Visits to Heritage Sites: Organized in collaboration with government and tourism boards to help students appreciate the value of cultural preservation and heritage tourism.
  • Study Tours and Field Trips: Regularly arranged to key tourism destinations, hospitality units, and travel hubs to provide hands-on exposure to industry operations.
  • Passport Drives: Conducted in association with government agencies to encourage students to become global citizens and facilitate easier participation in international programs.
  • Workshops and Seminars: On topics such as event management, sustainable tourism, travel entrepreneurship, and destination marketing.
  • Fests and Competitions: Including Tourism Week (VOYAGE), World Tourism Day Celebrations, and Kite Festival—providing platforms for leadership, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Industry Interactions: Sessions with professionals from airlines, travel agencies, hotels, and government tourism departments.
  • Community Outreach: Awareness campaigns promoting responsible tourism and sustainable travel practices.

Learning Outcomes – Through active participation in Tourism Club initiatives, students:

Achievements – The Tourism Club has successfully organized several high-impact events and initiatives that have been widely appreciated within and outside the college community, including:

  • Organizing and collaborating in Adivasi Utsav, celebrating the art, culture, and traditions of indigenous communities, and promoting inclusive tourism in collaboration with Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka
  • World Tourism Day Celebrations, observed with grandeur every year partnered with Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka
  • Kite Festival, promoting community engagement and cultural unity.
  • Heritage Walks and Study Tours that connect students with the living history of Karnataka and beyond.
  • Passport Drives and industry collaborations that have benefited hundreds of students aspiring for global exposure.
